Here are some links to some world class graphite artists. Each of these
artists do phenomenal work in graphite. And if you look at the work of
each one, you can see clear differences in style. There is great range
in graphite. These artists prove it.
Armin Mersmann
If any one artist is my muse it is Armin. His treatment of light is
astonishing. He pours himself into his pieces. There is so much going
on in his work than realism. See more of his wonderful work at:

Diane Wright
Diane Wright is a specialist in graphite landscapes. Compare this to
Armin's work above. The difference in style is clear. Diane creates a
completely different look and feel. But it's exquisite, no? Her web
site is at:

J.D. Hillberry
J.D. does several styles including Western and family themes. But I am
most enamored with his Trompe L'Oeil. From his website:
Trompe L'Oeil is a French term literally meaning "to
deceive the eye." It dates back as far as 400 B.C. and was part of
the rich culture of the Greek and Roman Empires. It is artwork that
attempts to be so realistic that the viewer is fooled into thinking
that actual three-dimensional objects are being displayed rather than a
two-dimensional representation of those objects.
